School year in Ireland

The quality of Irish education is very good. The teachers are immensely accommodating and welcoming, just like the rest of the Irish people.

Secondary education in Ireland is called Secondary School and is divided into two parts: Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle. Most exchange students participate in the Senior Cycle, where you will have a variety of mandatory subjects such as mathematics and English, and the rest of the subjects are optional, for example, Gaelic or theatre.

Most schools require you to wear a school uniform, so you don’t have to think about what to wear in the mornings.

Sport and leisure

In addition to normal classes, many schools offer extracurricular activities. These activities are voluntary and last until around 5 p.m. in the afternoon. And it’s the perfect opportunity to make new friends and/or discover your unknown talents!
